Common Questions & Answers

I cannot direct bill at this time but RCCs are covered by most extended health benefits. You can call your health benefits to check what is covered. When you pay, a receipt will be automatically generated and sent to your email with my RCC number on it. Submit it to your extended health benefits and most will pay you your portion back within a few days 🙂

That depends! During our initial assessment or first individual session, we will get an idea of goals and take into consideration logistics such as time, funding, and your ideas around counselling. We’ll try to come up with a plan that works for you….sometimes we are doing the best that we can considering time and what extended benefits allow. Sometimes we are able to allow indicators from the playroom or external environments to guide progress. Some clients choose to proactively check in so that there is a good connection when challenges arise. I’ll let you tell me what flexibility or constraints are needing to be considered!
Just send me a quick text (250-880-7180) and let me know if you are at road level or in the parkade and I’ll meet you with my keycard!
This is a 20 min complimentary appointment where we can get to know one another a bit. You’re welcome to ask questions about me, learn more about my background and approach, share a bit about your goals, and we can see if it feels like a good fit. Children are welcome to be a part of this if we’re exploring play therapy but please refrain from talking in depth about challenges at this appointment unless they have consented and are comfortable.
I accept Autism Funding Unit (AFU), Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP), Kid’s Variety, and CKNW currently. You are welcome to reach out if you have any questions or other funding questions. Sometimes you may have a fund and it’s as simple as me filling out a form to have me approved as a provider. I currently do not work with ICBC.
“Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT) is a research-informed model of play therapy that blends the therapeutic powers of play with principles from nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, physics, mindfulness, and therapist authenticity.” “in SPT’s truest form, toys and language aren’t required. What matters most is the emotional energy and the perceptions being expressed through play. SPT views the therapist as an external regulator who helps the child stay within a window of tolerance as they explore challenging thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Just as a caregiver regulates an infant, the therapist leads the way—modeling authenticity, congruence, and presence. Because over 60% of communication is non-verbal, it’s essential that the therapist’s verbal and non-verbal signals align. This alignment builds trust and safety, opening space for integration.” Please learn more here and I’m happy to share more information in a meet and greet: What is Synergetic Play Therapy? – Synergetic Play Therapy Institute
